Forested Wetland Traverse

Lee, Maine

Kennebec Trail Company was engaged to build the most challenging section of a planned seven-mile loop trail on a private property near Lee, Maine. The result was 2,900 feet of bog bridging across a remote forested wetland utilizing a single stockpile of a thousand rough cut cedar timbers skidded in over winter. Crew members averaged 14 miles of hiking per day for the 23-day project, with two crew members staging timbers and one advancing construction at any one time, on a 3-hour rotation. The crew effectively navigated challenging environmental conditions and physical demands through meticulous planning and logistics.
